This Privacy Policy applies to the FEMUEY｜VONSET website (femi-chess.com), the Femuey mobile App, the Femuey smart board firmware, the Vonset online training platform, and any related services that link to this policy (collectively, "Services").
By using our Services, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please stop using the Services. Where required by law, we will ask for explicit consent before collecting certain categories of data.
Data we collect
Account data: name, email, country, language preference, and (optionally) date of birth, used to create and secure your account.
Payment data: billing address and the last 4 digits of your card. Full card numbers are handled by our payment processors (Stripe, PayPal) and are never stored on our servers.
Gameplay data: your moves, opening repertoire, time controls, results, and rating progression. This data is what powers your AI coach and personalized training.
Device data: hardware serial number, firmware version, board pairing logs and connection diagnostics, used for warranty, OTA updates and troubleshooting.
Usage data: pages visited, features used, crash logs and approximate location derived from IP, used for product analytics and security.
How we use your data
To provide and personalize the Services — including matching opponents, generating training plans, and tailoring AI coach responses to your level.
To process orders, deliver hardware, handle returns and provide customer support.
To improve our products, train internal evaluation models on anonymized aggregated data, and detect fraud or abuse.
To communicate with you about product updates, security alerts and (with your consent) marketing emails. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email or in your account settings.
Storage & security
Personal data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). Payment data is tokenized and never stored in plain text on our infrastructure.
We retain account data for as long as your account is active, plus a limited period (typically up to 24 months) for legal, tax and abuse-prevention purposes. Gameplay data may be retained in anonymized form for longer to improve the AI coach.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, restrict or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing or withdraw your consent.
You can exercise most of these rights directly from Account → Privacy in the App or website. For anything else, contact privacy@femi-chess.com and we will respond within 30 days.
Children
Our Services are designed for chess players of all ages, including children, but accounts for users under 16 must be created and managed by a parent or legal guardian.
We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If you believe we have done so, contact privacy@femi-chess.com and we will delete the data promptly.
International transfers
We operate globally. Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, the United States and Singapore.
When we transfer data outside your region, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and equivalent mechanisms.
Updates to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our Services or applicable law. Material changes will be notified by email and via an in-product banner at least 14 days before they take effect.
