THE POST OFFICEFree course

The Cloudtown Post Office is hiring

A chess course for people who have never played. No memorising, no long videos — every lesson, you deliver a letter. 78 lessons, free.

How a lesson runs

Six steps, about twenty minutes

1

Learn the skill

Femuey explains the one thing this lesson is about.

2

Practise a delivery

Try a few. Get one wrong and it walks you through the thinking.

3

Deliver alone

Do it yourself, with no hints.

4

Retrace the route

Walk back through what you just did.

5

Name the method

Put the lesson into one sentence.

6

Tomorrow's letter

Come back tomorrow for a short review.

Four districts

From naming the pieces to finishing a game

78 lessons across four levels, graded by what you can do rather than how old you are — so adults starting from zero use it the same way.

Femuey the teacher

A teacher who remembers you

Femuey knows which lesson you are on, which kind of puzzle you keep getting wrong, and which review letter is due. Ask it something and it will not hand over the answer — it walks you through the thinking. There is a daily limit on questions.

It can see your record

Overall progress, streaks, and the sticking points that keep coming back.

It cannot see the answers

Correct options and correct moves are not in its hands — it cannot do the exercise for your child.

A note for parents

After every conversation it writes a short note. You can read it, clear it, or switch the memory off.

Placement test

Already play a bit? Twelve rounds, a few minutes, and you start where you should

At the end you get a placement letter. Lessons you have clearly passed are marked as mastered and the ones after them unlock. Every question comes from the course itself — no hints, and it does not tell you right or wrong as you go.

Want it sharper? Play one real game against Maia. It reads your game for pieces given away, threats missed, opening habits and how you finish, and feeds that back into the twelve rounds.

Post Office Arena

Learning ends in a real game

Your opponent is Maia — an engine trained on human games, so it plays like a person rather than a machine. Nine levels from 1100 to 1900 ELO. When the game ends you can review it, and ask Femuey which move went wrong.

Questions parents ask

All 78 lessons are free. Femuey has a daily limit on questions.
