Depending on the software branch shown for your chessboard, an update is required if the current version is below 2.5.0 or below 3.5.0. If you are unsure which branch applies, update the chessboard to the latest available firmware before connecting it to the latest app.

The required button is different for older and updated chessboard software. Use the instruction that matches the firmware currently installed on your L6 Pro.

Complete every stage in order.
Install Android app v2.0.9 to access settings for older firmware.
Connect the L6 Pro to Wi-Fi and confirm that it is online.
Install every available update until the latest version is confirmed.
Sign in again and verify that the board appears Online or Connected.

Legacy Android App
Download and install app v2.0.9
On your Android phone or tablet, download the legacy APK from the official link below. This app is used only for network setup and the chessboard firmware upgrade.
- Wait for the APK file to finish downloading, then open it.
- Follow the Android prompts to install the app.
- If Android blocks installation, temporarily allow app installation from this source in your phone settings.
- Open the legacy app after installation.

Sign in and connect your phone to the chessboard
The legacy app first connects your phone directly to the L6 Pro hotspot. Keep the chessboard powered on throughout this process.
- Register or sign in to your account in the legacy app.
- Open your phone's Wi-Fi settings.
- Select the chessboard hotspot whose name begins with feimiap_.
- Enter the default hotspot password 88888888, and then tap Join.
- Return to the legacy app and tap the “+” icon in the upper-left corner to open the Network Configuration interface.

Connect the chessboard to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network
- On the Wi-Fi Setup page, tap Connected to Feimi Hotspot. If your phone opened Wi-Fi settings, return to the legacy app afterward.
- Confirm that the setup page shows Connected to Chessboard.
- Under Wi-Fi Name (SSID), select your home Wi-Fi or hotspot. Use a 2.4 GHz network only; do not select a 5 GHz network.
- Enter the password for the selected home Wi-Fi network.
- Tap Start Network Configuration and wait without turning off the chessboard or closing the app.
- Wait for the connection-success confirmation.
How to confirm a successful connection
The chessboard announces “Connection successful”, the app shows the board name in the upper-left corner, and a network signal icon appears on the chessboard screen.

Open the Firmware Upgrade page
- Open the connected L6 Pro from the device or chessboard list.
- Open the chessboard settings.
- Select Firmware Update, Firmware Upgrade, or Device Update.
- Tap Check for Updates if the page does not check automatically.

Critical Update
Update the chessboard to the latest firmware
- Tap Update or Upgrade Now.
- Keep the L6 Pro powered on, keep the phone online, and leave the legacy app open.
- Wait for the download and installation to finish. The chessboard may restart automatically.
- After restart, return to the firmware page and check again.
- If another update appears, repeat the process until the app confirms that the latest firmware is installed.

Connect the updated L6 Pro with the latest app
After the chessboard firmware is fully updated, open the latest app and configure the network again. The latest app uses the chessboard hotspot whose name begins with feimi_.
- Register or sign in to your account in the latest app.
- Open the Play page. If the board is shown as Not Connected, tap Connect in the upper part of the page.
- Open your phone's Wi-Fi settings and select the chessboard hotspot whose name begins with feimi_.
- Enter the default hotspot password 88888888, and then tap Join.
- Return to the latest app and continue to the Network Configuration interface.
- If prompted, tap Go to system settings to connect. After joining the chessboard hotspot, return to the app and tap I've connected to the chessboard.
- Confirm that the Wi-Fi Setup page shows Connected to Chessboard.
- Under Home Wi-Fi Configuration, select a 2.4 GHz home Wi-Fi network or hotspot. Do not use a 5 GHz network.
- Enter the password for the selected home Wi-Fi network.
- Tap Send configuration to chessboard and wait without turning off the board or closing the app.
- The process is complete when the board announces “Connection successful”, the latest app shows the Smart Chess Board as online, and a network signal icon appears on the chessboard screen.

Quick troubleshooting
