Chapter 1
Introduction
Welcome to the VONSET P6, a dedicated chess computer designed for focused, screen-free play.
The P6 combines a magnetic sensor board and pieces with colorful LED guidance, voice prompts, a rounded low-profile body, and built-in chess-computer intelligence. It has no display and does not connect to external devices, so play remains centered on the physical board.
Magnetic sensor board
The board detects lifts, placements, legal moves, and take-backs without requiring you to press the squares.
Color LED guidance
Board lights guide setup, legal moves, computer moves, move quality, puzzles, and custom positions.
Standalone play
No display or external-device connection is required.
Chapter 3
Start Playing Chess
Begin a game
Fully charge the P6 before first use. Press and hold the power button. During startup, the LEDs show an animation and the voice announces “Welcome to VONSET.” When the board displays the letter “F”, press Play to enter the game.
Switch off the board
Press and hold the On/Off button for about two seconds. The voice announces “Power off” when shutdown is complete.
LED guidance
P6 uses nine board-light colors: six colors identify piece types during setup procedures, and three colors evaluate possible moves.
| Move light | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Red | Danger or poor move; a piece may be captured on the destination square. |
| Green | A normal playable move. |
| Blue | A stronger or better choice. |
Place and move pieces
Follow the LED guidance to place all pieces in the starting position. Move pieces as you would on a traditional board; do not press down on the squares. By default, the player uses White and P6 uses Black.
Illegal moves and detection problems
An illegal destination lights red, a beep sounds when audio is enabled, and the voice announces “Move illegal.” Return the piece to its original square or make a legal move.
Answer a check
If your King is in check, block the attack, capture the attacking piece, or move the King to a safe square.
Follow movement rules
Confirm that the destination is legal for the selected piece.
Center the piece
If the sensor does not detect a move, place the piece in the center of the square.
If a legal move is not detected, lift the piece and place it again. You may also return it to the original square and repeat the move.
Take back and hints
Press Take Back, then return the most recently moved piece to its original square. Continue in exact reverse order if you want to undo additional moves. Take-back is unavailable during an unfinished castling, en passant, or pawn-promotion sequence.
Press Hint to request a recommended move. You may still choose another legal move.
Castling
For White, move the King first and then the Rook. For Black, follow the flashing starting and destination squares shown by the board.
Pawn promotion
A pawn reaching the opposite side may be promoted to any piece except a King. Promotion to Queen is the default, or use the piece buttons to select another piece.
End of game
P6 reports checkmate, stalemate, and draw through voice and board-light patterns. Training mode may omit the voice result.
Start a new game
Press and hold Play for more than one second. Follow the light guidance to restore the starting position. The voice announces “White move” when the new game is ready. An interrupted game is not saved when you deliberately start a new game.
Chapter 4
Game Mode
Press Mode to cycle through the three playing modes. The OK light flashes while you choose. Press OK to confirm. Changing mode during a game starts a new game.
| Mode | Voice | Mode light | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Training | Training | Off | Learning-oriented play. Levels 1–18. Lights and voice guidance are on by default. |
| Match | Match | Flashing | Tournament-style play with timing and rule enforcement. Lights, hints, and sound are restricted by default. |
| Human | Human | Steady on | Two-player board mode with move detection, recording, take-back, and review support. |
Chapter 5
Level Setting
Use Level − and Level + to select a playing strength. The board shows the selected level with a combined light pattern. Level settings apply to Training and Match modes.
